As Agatha All Along wraps up with its finale on Disney+, fans are still captivated by the latest episode, “Death’s Hand in Mine.” The episode packed a punch with emotional scenes, from Lilia’s farewell to the reveal of Joe Locke’s character. Previously known as “Teen,” Locke’s character was finally introduced as William Kaplan, also recognized as Billy Maximoff—the resurrected son of Wanda Maximoff.
Now, he walks the Witches’ Road alongside Agatha and her coven, hoping to reunite with his lost twin, Tommy. But for many fans, the highlight was Billy’s transformation into a Maleficent-inspired figure.
A Costume Choice Full of Power and Intention
In “Death’s Hand in Mine,” each character receives a new look as they continue their trials. Agatha’s outfit pays tribute to the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz, green skin and all. But it was Billy’s Maleficent-inspired ensemble that stole the spotlight. Costume designer Daniel Selon, who previously worked on WandaVision’s Emmy-winning costumes, shared his thoughts on creating Billy’s look. His goal was to echo Maleficent’s elegance while keeping Billy’s unique power intact.
Selon opted for a voluminous skirt rather than a traditional “masculine” look, embracing Maleficent’s signature style with a fresh twist. Marvel and Disney fully supported this creative choice. The full-skirted design, bold and intentional, allowed Billy to embody a magical presence that felt authentic and powerful.
Bringing Maleficent’s Mystique to Life
The material used for Billy’s outfit took his look to another level. Selon chose fabric with a “dragon-like” quality, inspired by Maleficent’s mythical nature. The material, covered in reflective leather-like sequins, gave the costume a slightly armored, scaled effect. It’s a nod to Maleficent’s intimidating essence and adds a protective feel to Billy’s attire.
Billy’s Maleficent-inspired look has quickly become a fan favorite. With its stunning design and symbolic meaning, the costume embodies the evolution of his character, adding a memorable layer to Agatha All Along’s journey.
